This book highlights the significance of séga tipik in Mauritius' social and cultural history. A symbol of resistance and resilience, it has endured despite modern challenges and marginalization. Its 2016 inclusion in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list led to the creation of the Association of Sega Tipik Practitioners, dedicated to its preservation. Through stories, songs, photos, and videos, this book honors the guardians of this tradition and those who have passed it down.
