Si cet \u00e9l\u00e9ment de navigation<\/a> semble s’\u00eatre d\u00e9mocratis\u00e9, son utilisation suscite parfois la controverse. Alors que pour certains le menu hamburger est essentiel, voire indispensable, pour d’autres il est synonyme de mauvaise architecture de l’information.<\/p>\n

Ces trois barres horizontales sont omnipr\u00e9sentes : jeux vid\u00e9o, applications, sites internet, logiciels\u2026 Lorsque vous les voyez, vous savez imm\u00e9diatement qu’il s’agit d’un bouton vous donnant acc\u00e8s \u00e0 un menu.<\/p>\n

En utilisant le menu hamburger dans votre web design, vous \u00eates certain de fournir une indication claire \u00e0 vos utilisateurs.<\/p>\n

C’est comme l’ic\u00f4ne en forme de poubelle sur votre ordinateur.<\/p>\n

Prenons un exemple concret avec Uber.<\/p>\n

L’objectif principal de cette application est de vous permettre de trouver un chauffeur. C’est pour cette raison que l’\u00e9cran principal est centr\u00e9 sur la r\u00e9servation d’un v\u00e9hicule et qu’aucune autre information n’appara\u00eet.<\/p>\n

Si vous souhaitez avoir le d\u00e9tail de vos paiements, acc\u00e9der aux param\u00e8tres de votre compte, etc, vous devez cliquer sur le menu hamburger.<\/p>\n

Vous comprenez donc que ces trois barres horizontales sont id\u00e9ales pour donner acc\u00e8s \u00e0 des pages secondaires. D’ailleurs, dans l’esprit de beaucoup de personnes ce type de menu contient des informations moins importantes.<\/p>\n

Nous mettons l\u00e0 le doigt sur un inconv\u00e9nient majeur du menu hamburger : l’importance qui lui est donn\u00e9e. Il est certes tr\u00e8s pratique, mais reste un \u00e9l\u00e9ment de seconde zone. Je vous d\u00e9conseille donc d’ins\u00e9rer les pages principales de votre site dans ce genre de menu.<\/p>\n

Le menu hamburger, un engagement plus faible<\/h2>\n

Cet inconv\u00e9nient va de pair avec ce que nous venons de voir.<\/p>\n

Puisque les utilisateurs associent le menu hamburger \u00e0 un acc\u00e8s \u00e0 des pages moins importantes, ils ont tendance \u00e0 peu cliquer dessus. Mais ce n’est pas la seule explication \u00e0 cet engagement plus faible.<\/p>\n

Lorsque votre site est consult\u00e9 sur un appareil mobile, l’utilisateur va naviguer avec son pouce. Votre menu hamburger se trouve dans un coin sup\u00e9rieur de l’\u00e9cran ? Dommage… Cette zone est difficilement accessible dans ce genre de situation.<\/p>\n

Autre fait \u00e0 retenir : lorsqu’un utilisateur ne voit pas directement les options de navigation, il est plus susceptible de ne pas interagir. Alors que sur mobile son utilisation est tr\u00e8s pertinente, soyez vigilant quant aux informations qui y figurent sur desktop.<\/p>\n
